Model Assembly


The Purpose

To engage Canadian and International youth in a meaningful debate on human settlement and sustainability issues related to our cities.

The Process

The Model UN Assembly based on the concept of "Cities without slums" was first inititiated in Vancouver on June 14th and 15th of 2006. This Model UN Assembly was part of the World Urban Forum and Youth and had students from participating Vancouver High Schools as well as International Students from Pearson College in Victoria representing key nations from the UN General Assembly.

This landmark event has now served as a template towards future Model UN Assemblies based on the ideals of the World Urban Forum, UN-Habitat and the Canadian goverment's department of Western Economic Diversification (WD) Number of delegates
